Jersey Yacht Ensign British Register of Ships

Website

Registry Overview

Jersey provides a national yacht registration system for pleasure and commercial vessels under 400 gross tons. It is a member of the British Red Ensign Group which is administered by the British Registrar of Ships in Jersey. This island country, officially the Bailiwick of Jersey, is a self-governing British Crown Dependency located near the coast of north-west France.

Registration Office

The Jersey yacht and ship registry office is located in St Helier.

Registration Requirements

All types of yachts under 400 gross tons will qualify for the Jersey yacht registry, subject to certain conditions. Individuals or companies of the Commonwealth, EU, British Isles, Crown Dependencies or Overseas Territories will qualify as owners for Jersey registered vessels.

Recording Methods

Jersey has provisions for recording mortgages against registered vessels. However this does not apply to those flagged under the Small Ships Register which is available to Jersey residents owning vessels under 79 feet. Mortgages are administered by the British Registrar of Ships.

Registration Search

Transcripts of registry showing ownership, mortgages, and vessel particulars may be obtained from the registrar's office or a private servicing company.
