All vessels
manufactured since 1985 and with a motor of 25 hp or greater
must be titled. Titles are not issued for Coast Guard documented
vessels. |

provisions for bonded boat titles when there is insufficient

Tax Requirements |
Sales tax is
levied on boat transfers in Utah. |

Loan Perfection |
Security
interests on non-documented boats which are state titled must be
recorded on the state title records. On
Coast Guard documented vessels, a preferred mortgage must be
recorded on the vessel's abstract of title. A UCC financing
statement must be filed if the boat is neither titled or
documented. |

Co-ownership
is shown as "and" or "or" on Utah boat registration records. |

required on all boats registering in this state for the first

Reporting Requirements |
Transfers and

certificates are issued for outboard motors 1985 or newer with

Boat Trailers |
Titling and
registration are required unless the trailer is a single axle
less than 750 lbs unladed weight. They are optional for those
weighing less. |

Notary Regulations |
A $5,000 notary
bonding is required in Utah and notaries must affix a seal with
an inked stamp to all notarized documents. |

Dealer Licensing |
Boat dealers
and brokers are licensed by this state, but no bonding is required. |
| Visitation
Period |
A visitation
period of 60 days is allowed for boats that are registered in another state,
Coast Guard documented, or registered in a foreign country. |
